It was in 1995 that the Crous Brothers, Riaan, David and Kobus united their farming interests. These fifth generation farmers, alongside their father Viljee Crous, formed a farming unity focusing on beef cattle, potatoes and maize within the Free State.
After 6 years of beef farming together, the brothers decided to pursue their journey of game breeding. It was in 2002 that they made their first game purchase – Sables from Thaba Tholo. Over the past 15 years they have grown their game breeding program to over 10 different species and currently span over 12 500ha across the Free State and Limpopo province.
With over 60 years of farming experience and knowledge, the brothers continue to share the same vision and passion about producing the best animals through meticulous and ethical breeding practices. Due to their outstanding breeding program, the Crous Brothers were awarded the prestigious award of Wildlife breeder of the year 2014.
